About this item
- This plant tolerates a wide variety of well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. It will tolerate almost full shade but growth is slow and elongated. Use this plant for edging, rock gardens, containers, woodland settings or as a ground cover. It is drought and deer tolerant, moderately salt-tolerant, and can be used as a lawn alternative but does not tolerate foot traffic well.
- This low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Pruning old foliage, preferably before spring, is recommended to maintain a well-groomed appearance.
- This perennial evergreen has vivid green foliage that blooms numerous blue spikes followed by groups of black berries in the fall. Its weeping blades grow 1-2 feet tall. This versatile plant may be placed on slopes and at the base of trees, and is ideal for groundcover, mass planting, borders and edging.
- Thrives in average, well-drained soils. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Tolerates mild drought, when established. For a neat appearance, remove old foliage before new leaves emerge. Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring.
- Abundant blue flower spikes rise above the attractive, tufted arching, grass-like foliage followed by clusters of black berries. Superior edging, border or groundcover. Tolerates drier conditions when established. Evergreen.
